  • Kia Ranks Highest in J.D. Power Quality Study - Again!

    Last year Kia Motors was the first non-premium brand to top J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study (IQS) in 27 years. Out of all 33 auto manufacturers in the U.S., Kia was the highest scoring nameplate in the 2016 study. This year Kia has once again topped the J.D. Power IQS list of exceptional automobiles with five Kia vehicles earning top segment awards.

    J.D. Power has been conducting the IQS study for over 30 years to examine problems experienced by vehicle owners during the first 90 days of ownership. A quality score is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) with the lowest scores representing the highest quality.   • Utility Bill Discount for San Diego Kia Electric Vehicle Owners

    San Diego area residents who drive an all-electric or plug-in hybrid can take advantage of extra savings on their utility bill. Now, San Diego Gas and Electric customers who own a new Kia Soul EV, Optima Hybrid or Kia Niro can be eligible to receive an annual credit of at least $50 on their SDG&E bill.

    As part of California’s greenhouse gas reduction program, the Electric Vehicle Climate Credit has been administered by the California Air Resources Board. This state regulation, designed to increase the use of clean-vehicle fuels such as electricity, now offers this attractive incentive to owners of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

    The new 2017 Kia Niro Crossover Hybrid set a new record for the “lowest fuel consumption driving across the USA from coast to coast (hybrid car)”. The Niro was driven 3715.4 miles on only 4.1 tanks of gas (48.5 gallons) and delivered an outstanding 76.6 mpg.

    Two drivers, Wayne Gerdes of Carlsbad, CA and Robert Winger of Williamsburg, VA made the trek from Los Angeles City Hall to New York City Hall using 48.5 gallons of gas. When they arrived at New York City Hall in Manhattan the 2017 Kia Niro officially received the Guinness World Record® title.

This new rear-wheel-drive sports sedan has been on the drawing board for years and was originally introduced as Kia’s GT concept vehicle. It will be offered with a choice of two turbocharged engines; a four-cylinder 2.0-liter Theta II engine that produces an estimated 255 horsepower or a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 Lambda engine with an anticipated 365 horsepower.
