Located a short drive away in Oceanside, Mission San Luis Rey de Francia was the eighteenth Spanish Mission founded in California. Wedged snugly between the Carlsbad Premium Outlets and Legoland, this museum makes an excellent trip for families and music lovers alike. With the aim of preserving and educating people about our musical heritage, the museum displays hundreds of vintage instruments, audio and video clips, and engaging interactive displays. With all sorts of concerts, exhibitions, and events, this museum is a great place to learn about music and have a great time.
The scenic pier of Oceanside is a year-round attraction, though it has a particular charm in the summertime. Located near excellent beaches and well-endowed ocean-side parks, the pier is a great place to take the family. Located right across the street from The Flower Fields and the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, and a short drive away from Legoland and the pristine Carlsbad beaches, Carlsbad's very own Dutch-style windmill is now home to a banquet and catering service. The windmill is fully operational, and was once home to a Pea Soup Andersen's restaurant. Every Thursday from 5:00PM-9:00PM, the city of Oceanside hosts an evening gathering on the city's main street, featuring an eclectic mix of gourmet international food, interesting merchandise and curiosities, live music, and fun activities for children and adults alike.
There are three major ocean-side lagoons in Carlsbad: the Buena Vista Lagoon, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, and the Batiquitos Lagoon.
